I have been an off road enthusiast for over 20 years. Living in Florida, after riding Colorado trails, did not lend itself to the kind of trail riding I wanted. When our son moved off to college in Boston we decided we had had enough of South Florida and chose the Upstate as our new home. Soon a friend reintroduced me to jeeping and once again I was hooked. We quickly acquired our new jeep and put it on 35ís with lift and gears. We soon realized that as popular as the sport is here, there is no legal place to ride in South Carolina without knowing an owner of land.
With over a half dozen pro rock crawlers living here and SC being an out door state we put a business plan together with a goal of opening an off highway park. In 2006 I quit my job and bought 80 acres of land in Laurens County. With the unbelievable help of the off road community we opened Gulches Off Road Vehicle Park in 29 days with 21 trails. Since then we have grown to over 40 trails through the continued commitment of volunteers. Off roaders come from all over the southeast to experience our little park. With trails rated from easy to insane we have something for every size 4x4 and every skill level. We worked very hard to make a trail system that allowed the easy trails to take one to all of the advanced trails. This way no group has to split up. Today we are the highest rated off road park in North America according to Offroad North America with the only 5 star rating.
