We are in a very good weather pattern finally.  This weekend is going to be probably the best ever this year weather wise.  Saturday high 50’s and Sunday 60’s.  The trails should dry out pretty good with the wind up today, Wednesday.

We have a big group coming in from the Myrtle Beach area many have never been here before.  So I’m going to need some local support to show ‘em around.  We also have a zuki’ group coming in.  This should be an exciting weekend.
Thanks as always for everyone’s support.

It appears we missed the heavy weather of today Wednesday the 24th. It seems it is staying to the north.  Thursday should be cold but very windy. Wind is my friend and should help dry things out. FridayI have two groups coming in for the weekend. One from the Coast and one from Raleigh.  Also that big bad green machine that once belonged to Travis Lovett and now belongs to LC Collins will make an appearance Friday.  I will try to be there by 11:00 or 11:30 to let the fun begin.

Saturday and Sunday should be good weather and trails should be in good shape .  If conditions change I will up date this post, otherwise I’ll see you there.

I don’t want to jinx it as I did last weekend telling folks we would be open for the weekend and then Thursday night the weather folks decided to surprise us with a storm that forced us to close.  So Let’s wait for Friday for conditions.  I think we should be good if we get some drying this week. Two groups one from Ashville and one from Columbia are expected in Saturday.

What a difference a day makes.  Wed they said no rain.  Thursday maybe light rain.  Thursday evening they said heavy snow and here it is.. So we will be closed on Saturday as the snow is to melt away and the park will become a sloppy mess.

Hopefully we can dry out Saturday and open on Sunday. Call for conditions before you travel.

Once again we are going to be closed on Saturday Feb. 6th.  and Sunday the 7th. This rain every weekend is killing us.  The river has once again gone over its banks and flooded the park.

The heavy rain of last Sunday and the wind on Monday created the worst flood since we have been open. As of Wed. at 3:00 the river still was not in it’s banks completely. Trail 2 on the bottom just can not hold any more water and with no where for the water to go the trail is impassable. I would not open even if they did not call for rain this weekend which they are. No mater how sunny and clear Sunday may be we will not open. We need a series of extremely dry weather, .. days on end, with no rain to get to the point where I can bring equipment in to renovate the bottom.

As the song says “Let’s get it Started!” The weather looks very good for Saturday. We have a large group of the Mid Carolina Jeepers coming in. Several of whom have never been before. So Let’s Kick off 2010 with a big send off.

Gulches Kick Off of the 2010 Off Roading Year With free FOOD

Yes you heard it right . With a paid admission you get as many hot-dogs and hamburgers as you can eat free. Just pay for any chips cakes or drinks you might want.

The park should be in great shape and they expect temps in the high 50’s. So let’s come out and ride, meet new friends, and eat and ride some more.

Notice: Starting January 4th, I385 North bound will be closed to Gray Court from I 26. South bound I385 will remain open.  North bound I 26 travelers will have to exit on exit 54  Hwy 72 to Clinton.  Take it all the way to town and turn right on Hwy 76 to Laurens.  Turn left at Hwy 127 which will dead end at Hwy 221.  Turn left on 221 to Indian Mound at Crenshaws Store (100 cow skulls on the roof) bear right on to Indian Mound, go seven miles. Gulches is on the right.

Saturday looks like the day. So come out early. Rain should hold off till late afternoon or evening.  The park is in very good shape trails are very dry. But with the thaw there will be some soft sloppy spots. All size and types of tires and 4×4’s should be fine.

Sunday we may wash out so best bet is to call for whether we are open and/or trail conditions.  864 449 5698

Trail conditions should be wonderful. Cold but very dry.  Actually they are so frozen solid it’s like driving on rocks.  Saturday is our first event of the year. The park is still open for trail riding. You can watch and ride throughout the day.  We only use a small part of the park. while 97% is open to ride.  Dress warm!!!!!

Bring the kids and check out Gulches Mini Glacier. Radical Ravine and part of Death Valley is a frozen series of glacial type rivers.  Should make it interesting to compete on.

Rain rain go away.  We need to dry out.  The bottom trail 2  is sloppy but very manageable with mud terrain tires.  Stock vehicles with street or All terrain tires should pick a different weekend.  Rigs with lockers and all terrains should be okay.  Connecting trails are all pretty good.  I’d like to start out the new year with a dry park but all considered with all this rain the park is not in two bad a shape.  Hope to see you there.  We need all the support we can get as I was only open 3 days in December.  Happy New Year to All and God bless.
